This is the cats' corral area. Note the four cat doors to the left of the two windows. The upper cat doors have ramps going to their cedar outdoor jungle gym (officially known as the "CRC" -- Cat Recreation Center). The sliding door near the corner is kept closed during the winter months.

And this is what they see from their jungle gym. The corral is planted with sweet alyssum which grows low enough to provide the cats some cover yet allows them to be seen -- and grows dense enough to (hopefully) crowd out most of the weeds. When the alyssum is fully established, the corral should be a sea of white.

The large viewing windows are one of the cats' favorite "hang outs" Facing East, the windows catch the morning sun. With the soft marsh grass on the platform and the warmth of the morning sun, the cats' "comfort" often outweighs their natural fear of human viewers.

Later in the day, they like to hang out in the corral.

...or on one of their high walkways.

But at feeding time, they all come together to be fed. The gentleman is a neighbor who comes each morning at feeding time to bring them all some special treats.
